Choosing the Right Frame Type for your Kuranda Dog Bed
Posted by Caroline Aro on 08/29/2023
We offer several different frame types to best suit you and your pet’s needs. But which one is right for you?
Standard PVC Beds
These beds are made with a high-strength, furniture grade poly-resin frame and features a UV resistant finish to resist fading over time. Our Standard PVC Bed are rated for up to 100 lbs. Our 44x27 (XL) and 50x36 (XXL) PVC frames have a metal conduit within the long rails for extra support. These may shift in transit, so if you get your Kuranda bed and the screw holes are blocked in the long rails – not to worry! There’s an easy fix for this – gently, but firmly tap the rail on the ground to dislodge the metal conduit. Just be sure to protect your floor from damage with a towel or something first.

Our Almond PVC frames are a light beige color that is good for indoor or outdoor use, whereas the Walnut PVC is a dark brown and is recommended for indoor use only. When left outdoors and in the direct sunlight, the darker color causes the PVC to slightly heat and warp over time. Be sure to not place any bed too close to a heating source indoors either!
Aluminum Beds
These are our most durable frame option – this lightweight aircraft grade aluminum frame is easy to clean and very durable. It is designed to stand up to the toughest dogs, indoors or out. If you expect your rowdy pup to be chewing, scratching and digging a lot, this is the frame for you! These frames are also great for your bigger or heavier pups, since it’s rated for up to 250 lbs. The satin-colored aluminum frame is a beautiful addition to any home.
Crate Beds
Our Almond PVC, Walnut PVC and Silver Aluminum beds are all available as Crae Beds as well! These include all the parts as the standard options but also include our shorter, 3.25" Crate Legs. This allows for more headspace within your pup's crate for maximum comfort. For an even more luxurious fit in your crate, try out our Slimline Crate Bed; these beds' slim frame profile maximizes sleeping area and is intended to fit snugly in almost any wire crate (without the crate pan).
