The only time my dog will go on it is if I call her to lay down on it. She'll stay on it so long as she's being petted and/or I'm next to her but while she's in the yard alone she'll actually go and lay down next to it. I have it under a patio umbrella for shade so she still wants to lay in the shade but she wants no part of the cot. She's had a different brand's cot and she used to lay on that one. I went with the Kuranda because she did chew the other brand's material to shreds. The material on the Kuranda also collects water when it rains or the sprinklers are on so I have to make sure to flip the cot to drain it so it won't end up attracting mosquitoes.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

We purchased our Kuranda bed, an XL Standard bed with 40 ounce Vinyl burgundy fabric, about eight years ago after researching dog beds that wouldn't fall apart and couldn't be chewed nor shredded. Our nine month old Dobie had ripped apart at least four (maybe 5) stuffed foam beds... one of which never made it home from the store. He shredded it in the rear of the SUV on the way. We had spent approximately $200 on beds in a brief period and all we had to show for it was several trips to the dump... sorry, Land Fill as is the current proper term.

Taa Dahhh... Enter Kuranda, our final bed purchase. It took Alex about 15 minutes of circling and investigating before gently placing one paw on it. Then a second paw and finally all four. Then he laid down... and the "rest" (pun intended) is history. During the first couple years, we had problems with the corner pieces cracking due to flexing under his 80 pounds. A very short time and a few parts later we were back in business. Upon ordering the third set of corner pieces, we were informed by the very nice folks at Kuranda that they had reformulated the composition of the corner pieces and were sending us the new pieces free of charge. That was five years ago and the corners are still holding strong. No more problems. Alex is/was pleased with his bed and we were thrilled with the superb customer service. The continual improvement of the product is commendable. So, stop searching. You've found the best bed available. The price is dirt cheap compared to the money you have or will spend on the throw away stuff. Due to cancer, Alex has transitioned into Xenia, our first female Dobie. Also eighty pounds, she won't get off the bed except to go out and do what dogs do when they go out. "Enough said. Get a Kuranda bed." Good slogan. Thanks. You're welcome.

We purchased two Kuarnda beds. One large for our labrador retriever,(she has a bad leg), and one small for our jack russell. Both LOVE their new beds.
Color coordinated, sage covers complete the look so human family likes the style of the dog beds. Dogs beds are in the family room so dogs can be with us and have their own "sofa" to snuggle on as we also purchased new sofa's for the humans. :)

delivery was prompt and direction for assembly easily followed. Our Karunda
Beds are used by all ages from puppies to adult.Pups love to climb on and sleep on and under the Karunda bed. Later it becomes their private "comfort place" to snooze or just survey the world.

Our setters use them all the time, except the puppy who destroyed our long time used older ones, guess she thought it was time for an upgrade. Just ordered 3 new ones, aluminum this time. We just use some detergent, scrub them down, hose them off and let them dry in the sun.

Nine years ago and our first Great Dane, we purchase our first beds. Our 130lb girl passed away at 9 having used hers all her life. Our 155lb boy is 5 and is on his original bed too. No problems in all those years. Does not get much better than that.

3rd kuranda dog bed

this is my 3rd dog bed. my 1st two were the dog "cots" and i really liked the style and the way they were made. when ordering my 3rd dog bed, i tried looking for the dog cot and couldn't find it so i went with the standard dog bed. i'm not as pleased with this one as the cots. it doesn't seem as sturdy as the cot and it the plastic parts make noises when my dogs move around on them. i also don't care for the plastic pieces because when i clean them with a water hose, it seems that the water will be trapped in between the plastic pieces. other than that... seems to be fine.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Kuranda Response:
We discontinued the "Cot" a while ago. They still had a small following but not enough to keep in production. We've had many many happy customers with our Standard bed. Let us know how you feel after a few months.
