Kuranda Dog Beds raise comfort level for special dogs

GLEN BURNIE, MD The image of cold dogs, lying on a hard, often wet cement floor paints a bleak picture of life in an animal shelter. That is not the case for the dogs residing at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah! The Kuranda Dog Bed Company created a Donate a Bed Program which has enabled individuals to donate comfortable, off the floor beds to the dogs and cats at Best Friends. This Program enables individuals to send beds at a discounted price directly to the sanctuary in the donor’s name, or as a gift in someone else’s name. Best Friends is immediately notified that a bed is on the way!
Kuranda dog beds are long lasting, easy to wipe clean and provide orthopedic support good for healthy hips and joints. The design of the bed tucks the fabric into the specially molded channel making it virtually “chewproof”, backed by a full 1 Year Warranty!
The public has embraced the Donate a Bed Program which is providing thousands of beds to shelter pets across the nation. “The Program is a Win-Win-Win” says Carol Grandmougin, Director of Humane Programs for Kuranda. She says “the Dogs love the comfort of the beds, the Staff appreciates the dog’s opportunity to relax, and the Public is impressed with the high level of care provided for the dogs.”
The staff at Best Friends has made sure each of the 22 pit bulls seized from ex-NFL star Michael Vick called Vicktory Dogs placed in special care at the Sanctuary are pampered with their own comfy Kuranda bed to sleep on.
Dogs by nature do not like to eliminate where they sleep, so providing a raised bed where they live 24 hours a day makes life nicer for them. Raised Kuranda beds make a big difference for the dogs during their stay; they are less stressed by having their own comfortable bed making them more adoptable.

Kuranda USA is a small manufacturing company established in 1987 and based in Glen Burnie, Maryland. In the late 1980’s they manufactured a circular dog bed designed in Australia. It was an excellent bed but it was costly to make and ship. They discontinued manufacture of the circular bed in 1995 when they designed and patented the original rectangular dog bed (the RDB) which was an immediate hit. They then introduced the poly resin bed in 1998, an aluminum version followed in 2003.
